Jean
(Fleming) Tucker, I attended Linden
Grade School, Central Junior High School, and Washington Irving
through my freshman year. In the ninth grade, I was in Mr. Andre's
homeroom. I would have graduated in your class of 1961 but we moved
to Panama City, FL. We still live here. My brother, Jimmy Fleming
('56), and sister-in-law, Helen House Fleming ('59) both graduated
from WI. I enjoyed playing the saxophone in the marching band, and
the bassoon in the concert band while at WI.
My husband, Tommy Tucker, and I are retired from teaching. Prior to
teaching, my husband retired from IBM sales. We have two children.
Our daughter, a pediatrician, and husband had our first grandchild
in August. Our son, a professor of graphic design in United Arab
Republic, and wife were married in August and are expecting in June.
I presently enjoy decorator art (folk art). I recently joined a fun
group, Society of Decorative Painters. My husband is spending his
time woodworking and learning to weld. We also enjoy traveling in
Europe, China, India, and United Arab Emirates.
I still love the beautiful mountains of West Virginia. We visit my
brother and wife often in Hillsboro. We also have a condo unit at
Snowshoe. No, I cannot ski, but my husband is learning. I still
search for a perfect WV hot dog. A local Tom's Hot Dog Stand and the
Varsity in Atlanta come close. I still crave Minard's spaghetti and
salad. I remember my first French fries and pizza in Clarksburg.
I enjoy your web site and seeing familiar names. Keep me informed of
upcoming events.

Mimi (Lee) Fanning, Real Estate Broker/Sales Person. Married, 2
Children. After graduating from Ohio U,'65 BSED, I toured Europe for
4 months. I had a brief career teaching K. then 1st grade at Ft
Myers (Arlington County Schools) at Arlington Cemetery. U.S. Senator
Jennings Randolph selected me to be his representative for the
Cherry Blossom Festival in Wash.,DC. The week as a Princess was
noticed by my Adm Director, John Fanning, as I missed school to have
lunch with Hubert Humphrey, plus the activities. I went from
Princess to being his Queen within the year. While living in
Arlington, Va I called The White House and invited Linda Byrd
Johnson Robb to play bridge at our home. That was a real "Secret
Service" Story.
Kristin Lee was born 9/67 and John III 17 months later and our
challenges began. John was diagnosed at 6 mo. as multiply
handicapped with severe epilepsy & retardation. Our lives were crazy
for the 20 years he lived at home and now has lived in an ARC Group
Home for 12 years. John uses a walker and wheelchair but is happiest
on the golf course "driving" the golf cart. Kristin is a brilliant
8th grade math teacher with 2 Masters. Our joy is having them live
nearby. Life is sweeter and more precious these past 8 years after
experiencing Breast Cancer. Kay and Linda were my WI cheerleaders
and we are all closer because of it.
Real Estate keeps me very busy but I always schedule time for golf,
tennis, ski trips, dancing and bridge. My family is #1 in my life.
My husband deserves sainthood after 34 years with me. My siblings:
Virginia '54,Tommy'58,Annabelle'60 and Johnny '65 and their families

currently work for Weichert, Realtors, in Oakton, VA. The commute is
seconds from my home—rather than my hour plus commute for IBM!! It
has been a very rewarding as well as interesting experience. I have
